How to Navigate Modern Dating as an Entrepreneur

a fireside chat with Steve Dean and Melissa Thi Le, Founder, Strive With Me

Let's talk about how you manage your business, personal life, AND dating as an entrepreneur.

    About this Event
Dating is hard enough when our lives, homes, friend circles, and incomes are stable and predictable. Yet for entrepreneurs, none of these things can be taken for granted.

Whether you're an entrepreneur looking to date, or you're looking to date an entrepreneur, it's helpful to be well versed on the ins and outs of this new and rapidly iterating world of hustle, grit, capital, and connection.

In this fireside chat, entrepreneur and dating coach Steve Dean will shed light on the dating behaviors and struggles of the thousands of entrepreneurs he's come into contact with through his startups, travels, coaching, and community building.

Expect to come away with a deeper understanding of:

    • How entrepreneurs fit dating into their schedules
    • How to more effectively stack dating with other life activities and goals
    • Emotional struggles of founders whose loyalties are divided between their relationships and their startups.
    • Useful habits and mental models for navigating all things non-traditional, from career paths to housing to romantic relationships

More about the host and Strive With Me:

Melissa Thi Le is a serial social entrepreneur, Founder of Strive With Me, a platform making personal development and social change more accessible for busy people, and the Host of Strive Conversations. Melissa also consults startups and corporate innovation teams on community building, operations, events, and programs.

      Curious Fox Presents:
Constructing Your QuaranTEAM During Quarantine with Steve Dean

    About the Event
Are you ready for the next phase of quarantine?

How are you going to survive the months of social distancing to come?

    Do you have a "quaranteam"?

For this workshop, we'll be diving deep into how to prepare ourselves physically, emotionally, and logistically for this next phase of quarantine, with a special focus on how to build a "quaranteam" made up of friends, lovers, and/or chosen family.

It's hard to overstate how much relationships have changed since COVID-19 started. Our dear love languages of physical touch and quality time feel like they've been decimated by lockdowns and social distancing. Virtual events oftentimes fail to scratch our itch for human contact. Even our longest-standing friendships feel strained due to how much more digital upkeep they require in the absence of our easy IRL touchpoints like work, dining out, and social gatherings.

During this workshop, we will cover:

    • How to maintain sanity while stuck at home alone
    • Why poly/ kink life prepares us so well for quaranteaming
    • Deciding whether full-time quaranteaming is right for you (versus just inviting friends over on occasion)
    • How to choose members for your quaranteam
    • Conversational scripts for discussing quaranteaming with friends, family, and partners
    • Logistics and armchair economics of quaranteaming (nerdy, but fun!)
    • Personal stories from successful quaranteams
    • Best practices for nurturing relationships even if you choose to continue quarantining alone.

There will also be time for group discussion, Q&A, and activities so we can get to know one another and discover the wisdom we’ve collectively accrued since the social distancing began!

    WHEN? Wednesday, July 29th, 2020

WHAT TIME? Log in at 8:15pm, Workshop 8:30-10:00pm, Questions 10:00-10:30pm. [EST]

The Nerds & the Bees combines an insider perspective on the the data behind dating apps, provided by co-host and dating consultant Steve Dean (Dateworking.com, Modern Connection podcast host), alongside personal experience that borders on over-sharing, provided by co-host and comedian Gabe Gonzalez (Scruff, MTV News), in order to demystify how online dating impacts relationships and sex in the real world.

With guest panelists who get it, they’ll be playing games and inviting performers to help solve (or at least make you feel less lonely about) your most confounding modern dating problems.

              Hygge NYC

a low-key monthly gathering for the socially curious

              Date: Thursday, April 9th, 2020
              Time: 9pm-11pm EDT
              Location: https://live.remo.co/e/hygge-nyc-april-2020

Hygge NYC is modeled after renaissance-style salon gatherings.

Each gathering is an open invitation to the creatives, changemakers, technologists, nomads, entrepreneurs, and other kindhearted, delightful people you think we should all meet.

We'll have dinner, talk passions and projects, and meet those who can help. Keep an eye out for our 'questions to spark authenticity' that we'd normally hand out on sticky notes at the food court we meet up at, but this time will be dropping into each of our breakout rooms during the virtual gathering.

The force behind this event is passion, not business.
We're here to make friends, not contacts.
We believe everyone can teach us something.
We are gathering to help one another do the most possible
good with our projects, adventures, and connections.

This is not a startup or networking meetup.

It's an informal get-together of people seeking meaningful conversation and purpose-filled action in their lives.

We hope to help you find it here.

PS - We have a Facebook group!

Office Hours with a Dating Consultant:

a Deep Dive with Zach Schleien, founder of FilterOff

In the dating industry, new apps and services spring up just about every week.

There are over 3,000 dating sites and services in existence today.

But in light of the Covid-19 epidemic, where quarantine is the new norm, certain dating apps have suddenly become top-of-mind for many daters who can no longer expect an immediate face to face meetup.

Enter: Zach Schleien, founder of FilterOff, a new dating app that takes an hour of your life and turns it into a series of virtual dates with people in your area, so that you can get some face time and conquer loneliness with a few new people each week, and ultimately decide for yourselves if you want to take things to the next level.

FilterOff sets the time and the (virtual) place, and when you show up, you're face to face with someone who's single and ready to connect. In this fireside chat with Zach — and your audience participation — we'll discuss how he came up with the FilterOff concept, what he's learned since launching the app, and what he sees as the future of virtual dating.

Come prepared with your most thoughtful and curious questions, because it's not every day you get facetime with a founder!
